Zero to 100 - Slowly

Think about your clubhead. It picks up speed slowly. It's just the way they are made.

So why rush it?

We all know by now, I hope, that the backswing should be slow and gradual. Not herky jerky.

Once you reach the top, don't break your rhythm by accelerating too quickly. You're essentially going to lose speed RIGHT WHEN YOU SHOULD BE PICKING IT UP.

You REALLY REALLY don't need to swing violently or fast! to get distant. In fact, you'll lose.

Picture this: On your downswing, think of the last foot before you hit the ball. THAT is where you accelerate.

AND KEEP ACCELERATING. You have to not only hit the ball you must swing THROUGH it. Ideally, you'll maintain or even slightly increase speed AFTER impact. Otherwise, it's as if you are bunting.

Tip of The Week - Windy so why hit it high??

A long line drive deep down the fairway....

Windy? Tight Fairway? Feeling nervous? Do this: Tee the ball lower than normal. Play the ball two 'ball lengths' back from your typical set up. This will enable a low line drive that will be more accurate, and certainly will cut through any wind coming your way!
